Visa Applications
All international visitors must obtain an entry visa before visiting China. Visitors are strongly encouraged to contact their local consulates as early as possible for accurate information or visit:
Only attendees who have registered for OMAE 2010 will be supplied with an invitation letter to obtain a visa. To request an invitation letter, please send an email to visa@omae2010.com and provide your full name, address, paper number and paper title with your request.
Language
The official languages in Shanghai are Mandarin and Shanghainese although English is widely spoken. In preparing for your trip, learn some useful phrases in Mandarin.
Currency
The official currency in China is the RMB. Foreign currency and traveller’s cheques may be exchanged at hotels, banks and bureau de change. Credit cards are accepted widely in most hotels. Click here for a currency converter.
